Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you enter a name, a date of birth, or a case number into a search box on this site, that text travels straight to the outside company that runs the search. The company processes the query and returns the results. Nothing you type into those boxes is kept or logged by us.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we hold onto the message so we can write back. Your note stays with our team. It is not shared outside our organization unless a legal obligation forces it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers record a few technical facts about the visit:
- Browser type and version
- The IP address your device is using
- Device type and operating system
- The site that referred you here, if there was one
- Which pages you opened and how long you stayed
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site sets cookies, which are small files kept on your device. They let us see how visitors move through the site, such as which pages draw the most traffic and where people leave. Analytics services help us pull that traffic data together. You can block cookies through your browser settings at any time. A few parts of the site may act differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
Visitor data serves a short list of purposes:
- Keeping the site online, stable, and fast
- Passing your search request to the right partner service
- Seeing which pages are useful and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Displaying ads that may relate to your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant-record information. We publish general guidance on where Howard County warrant records are kept and how to check them through the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Howard County, the Howard District Court, the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Section, and the Maryland Judiciary Case Search. None of that material is a warrant file, and we do not assemble what we learn about visitors into consumer reports or into records about other people. Access to records that government agencies and courts actually hold is set by Maryland law, including the Maryland Public Information Act, General Provisions Article, ยง4-101 et seq., and by the Maryland Rules for court files.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Whatever you type into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide how long they keep data and who they share it with, and we have no say in it. Read the partner's policy before you run a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to sheriff's office pages, Maryland court portals, legal aid organizations, and outside search tools. Following any of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy applies. Read it before you hand over personal details.
Some advertising partners may follow your activity across websites in order to serve targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may receive some information:
- Search partners that process the queries you run here
- Analytics providers that track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that serve ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We rely on standard security practices to protect the data we collect. Still, no system connected to the internet is untouchable. We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, but we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is built for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, Maryland law and federal law may give you further rights over your data. At a minimum, you can:
- Request that we erase your data
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
- Have us correct information that is wrong
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change over time. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Come back to this page if you want to stay current on how we handle your information.
